We use the finest quality woods to manufacture Sewell Shutters.
For our painted shutters, we use Basswood North American hard woods.
Basswood resists warping and shrinking, and reduces the chance of sagging in large panels.
We use Basswood for our stained units. The uniform grain pattern of these woods provide a smooth surface, which allows us to create a furniture-like
finish.
Sewell Shutters offers two different louvre sizes.
You can choose the louver size that best suits your decorating style. You can
choose shutters with traditional 2 1/2" wide louvers, or choose a more contemporary look with
the 3 1/2" wide louvers. Generally, the larger louvers look best on large windows with tall ceilings. The price is the same, regardless of which width
you choose. All louvers are 3/8" thick.
Sewell Shutters can match any color.
We use oil-based enamel so that our shutters can compliment virtually any color scheme.
Sewell Shutters uses nylon pins to pivot the louvres in our shutters.
Nylon pins prevent the problems of shrinking, swelling and wear that are associated with
the use of wooden dowels to pivot the louvres. This allows your clients to easily move the louvres.
The nylon pins have a 1/32" spacer, providing clearance between the louvre and the stile, and prevents wear.
Sewell Shutters controls the tension of the louvres with tension screw placements.
Tension screw placements form an integral relationship with the nylon pins. This relationship
allows you to control the tension in the louvres for years to come.
