Sewell Shutters crafts what is arguably the most eco-friendly window covering on the planet. Plantation shutters provide more insulation for your home and more variable light control in every room resulting in energy conservation. Being manufactured from basswood greatly reduces warping (preventing gaps for energy to escape). This advantage is capitalized on by the mortise and tenon joint and louver lock system which prevents sagging of shutter elements. Additionally, they are easy to clean, meaning harmful allergins are less likely to affect the health of families and their children.

Manufacturing
The Sewell Shutters manufacturing facility continues to innovate processes by which they can reduce waste, cut greenhouse emissions, and recycle left over material. For example, all left over paint and stain material that is produced on site can be recycled in the next batch of paint.
